Double Electricity Standing Charge

  • Just if anyone is viewing this. I got my standing charges reversed. Octopus originally refused, saying to was two readings and advised me to get my meter changed. I complained to the Ombudsman and Octopus reversed their decision - giving me £200 as a "sorry" as well. This also included all my charges back.

I spoke to EON, my previous supplier and as suspected - they always reversed the charge each month.

It is not law - complain to the ombudsman and it will get resolved.

Useful. I have a single meter, 2 MPAN set up on an E7 tariff (was E10 previously) and I'm still paying 2 SC. Thanks

  • Only just seen this thread. I didn't think suppliers were allowed to charge 2 standing charges any more, for several years, just because you happen to have complex metering.
I used to have complex metering with EDF and "out of the blue" I got a refund of standing charges for about 5 years I think it was. I believe there was some sort of Rule change by OFGEM, can't remember what or when exactly.
