Vodafone broadband non-delivery

Hi all. I’m after some advice. We moved house on 16 Feb and 2 weeks before we notified Vodafone of our desire to transfer our broadband service to our new property. We were given an installation date of 23 Feb. But we are still waiting today over 6 weeks later. My husband has spent countless hours on the phone being given a different story each time, although we think the primary issue has been with Openreach who need to dig in order to lay cable to the house. They now have all the permissions they need to do this but we still can’t get a delivery date from them. This would be unacceptable even without the fact that we have a disabled child who relies heavily on the internet for self regulation and online appointments/therapies. It has been exceptionally difficult to manage without internet unlimited, readily accessible internet. Apparently Openreach don’t prioritise for disability and we can’t see any evidence of Vodafone doing so either. In short, we feel completely stuck and don’t know how to push to get this resolved. Advice gratefully received!

Are you using mobile broadband in the mean time. Which you could try asking Vodafone to fund.

Sadly Disabilities are not a reason for companies to not follow the correct procedure to dig up roads or footpaths.

  • Thanks. We are absolutely using mobile data although it is far more expensive and no where near as convenient/easy to use for my child. Of course we don’t expect any procedures to be bypassed to accommodate disabilities. As mentioned, as far as we are aware all permissions are now in place so it is unclear what is delaying the digging and there appears to be no consideration being given to prioritising the work schedule given the impact it is having on a disabled child and their family. We can’t even get a date out of them now.

What type of property have you moved to , new build or established area  ? ,
If Openreach  are having to excavate that suggests it may be FTTP that you have available, enter your address at this checker ,
    https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL

look for the part like this ,

Our records show the following FTTP network service information for these premises:-Single Dwelling Unit Residential UG Feed with no anticipated issues.

ONT exists with active service. No spare ports are available. Network is at capacity so a new ONT cannot be ordered.

What does the return for your address show ?

finally , you are Vodafone’s customer, not Openreach’s customer, any priority you are entitled to needs to go via VF

You should have checked what was actually available at the address before moving.

5G and 4G can be good and fairly cheap depending on your area's (which you should also of checked before moving) signal.
