Was with bt for years for broadband however latest contract expired and new one was far too dear so I looked on here and Vodafone had a decent deal.
But I should have known after my mobile experience years ago.
Vodafone failed to put in a start order to open reach apparently so now I face an unknown time without broadband.
Not a really big deal, I’ll buy a mi fi for now, but typical of Vodafone, no help, no loan of a mi fi possible, I’ll never ever use them again for anything, they simply can’t do anything right first time, exactly the same as when I had my mobile phone with them. Should have known better than to think things had changed.

If you’re thinking of joining them my advice is don’t do it.

Thanks for posting. I renewed with BT last week despite Vodafone having much the better deals having reconciled that there was a value in continuity and peace of mind.

    Seconded. My experience also.

If it has worked for others here, then well done. But be aware that when something goes wrong their CS is dreadful. Was a month before BT could reconnect me, Vodafone having failed to sort out whatever it was within the 14 days to cancel timescale.

Exactly why I have stuck with BT for decades.  You get what you pay for and when I see how many of my friends have migrated to other providers then had endless problems, like being left with no service for over 2 weeks on one instance with Virgin, I prefer to stay with the devil I know.  BT have always given me quick resolution of any issue, although have probably only contacted them (apart from negotiating renewals) half a dozen times in over 40 years.  And I always manage to negotiate a decent price reduction when I do renew as "a valued long term customer"  (their words last time I renewed).

Been with Vodafone for 5 years for mobile and FTTP with no real problems.

Like every company it's how they sort problems that matter and I've always found them good.

Unfortunately Vodafone are usually found down at the bottom of the pile when it comes to the customer satisfaction surveys. They are a bottom feeder ISP relying on the price to gain customers. Not quite at Shell / TalkTalk levels of incompetence but in the same ballpark in many cases.

If you have an opportunity to still cancel and go elsewhere, personally I would.

For balance, I've used Vodafone as my main mobile supplier for over five years and have had no problems, even when dealing with their CS on quite technical issues around Wi-Fi Calling, adding smartwatch e-SIMs etc. Coverage, billing, cost have all been good.

Trying (and failing) to implement a simple broadband FTTC swap from BT was truly a dreadful, frustrating, never-to-be-repeated experience.

If you were swapping from BT and had a dreadful experience, then that’s entirely the new ISP responsibility as the losing provider is passive in the process , it’s a gaining provider led process , any issues ( even if the new ISP says it not them ) are down to the new ISP

Every company has problems it's how they deal with it that matters.

Years ago BT marked my final bill as a default (no communication from them) and I never noticed for a good year until I applied for a credit card and got knocked back. There could have been far serious consequences.

They got the default removed and gave me £150 compensation. They couldn't have been nicer and I'd go back with them in a minute.

I'm not a fan of budget/cheapo companies and Vodafone certainly aren't that. They provide a solid service IME. I don't like the idea of them merging with the so-called Virgin/O2 as that money will be paid for by reducing service quality.

I almost just switched to Vodafone, but renegotitated Sky down from their proposed £36 a month to £28 a month. Sounds like I dodged a bullet there..

As a footnote to initial post, I spent 2 lots of 45 mins on the phone to CS. Awful experience but finally told it would be connected on 12 April, confirmed twice verbally.
Then 2 hours later got a text and email saying it would be 19th. So in frustration I’ve cancelled everything with them and gone to Plusnet, whom I have had no problems with at some rental properties I own.
So, even cheaper, but no home landline, but we never used it anyway.
    Vodafone CS is truly awful.
