In desperate need for some help court letter for unpaid parking ticket

Hi, I was wondering if I could get some help regarding this court letter for an unpaid parking ticket. I'm very confused with the amount of information that is available online and not sure how I can defend my case or even if it will be successful or not. I have been told if my case is not successful, it can affect my credit score for up to 6 years. As a newly graduate and started my career this will have a big impact in my future. As I'm willing to pay but I don't know how to ask for a reduced amount as I believe this is not a fair amount.

Any help will be appreciated as this is my first ever ticket that has gone this far as I wrongly followed online advice to not pay for private parking tickets which has caused so much distress to me lately.

Even if this went to Court and you lost, as long as you paid in the stipulated time there would be no 'six year effect' om your credit history, so forget that worry.

More details would help with constructing a defence, but first step is read the Newbies and understand what happens.

Also it appears that you have two charges for the same day. That needs checking.

Thank you for your prompt response, I did not realise there had been 2 charges thanks for noticing. is there any way I can ask for a review of the claim or reduction of the amount claimed?

No.  Why do you want it reviewed when  you will pay nothing by using our advice?

Obviously you just defend it using our Template Defence (easy) and DCB Legal will discontinue in about 6 months, because that's what they do.  Did you miss @Umkomaas thread about this model?

I have been told if my case is not successful, it can affect my credit score for up to 6 years.
Not true.  There is zero risk because if you lost at a hearing you'd pay (less than the claim...) and no CCJ would be left at all.

But you won't even have a hearing.

Sooo easy!  You need to just read the resources here and see what really happens

With a Claim Issue Date of 22nd March, you have until Wednesday 10th April - that's just two days away - to file an Acknowledgment of Service but there is nothing to be gained by delaying it.
To file an Acknowledgment of Service, follow the guidance in the Dropbox file linked from the second post in the NEWBIES thread.
Having filed an Acknowledgment of Service in a timely manner, you have until 4pm on Wednesday 24th April 2024 to file your Defence.
That's a little over two weeks away. Plenty of time to produce a Defence, but please don't leave it to the last minute.
To create a Defence, and then file a Defence by email, look again at the second post on the NEWBIES thread - immediately following where you found the Acknowledgment of Service guidance.
Don't miss the deadline for filing an Acknowledgment of Service, nor that for filing a Defence.

Do not try and file a Defence via the MoneyClaimOnline website. Once an Acknowledgment of Service has been filed, the MCOL website should be treated as 'read only'.

Thank you very much for your advice. I have filled an Acknowledgment of service on the MCOL website. Just to clarify do I need to send the Response pack via post by Wednesday the 10/04/24?

You aren't using the response pack.

This is advice that I received from a legal representative, "If you paid for the CCJ within 30 days of being issued, this won’t be recorded against your credit profile. If you pay after 30 days, this will be recorded for 6 years."

If I file a defence, by the time I receive a response it will likely pass the 30 days limit, correct me if wrong, please.

I think I still need to pay one of the PCNs due to overstaying, so not sure if my defence will be successful at all.

Apologies if I'm complicating the matter, I'm very overwhelmed by the information available and not sure how to proceed.

I'll give you a background story of the events:

I was working on the 07/10/23 (date of ticket), and returned to the parking in timely manner, moved my car to leave, I had to stop to take on-call as I was on duty. I had to take the call so stopped and was working. This resulted in my overstay. Wrongly I followed the advice from the internet to not pay the private parking tickets, which wasn't wise of me to do to reach this stage! so I partially agree with one PCN but not 2 PCNs!!

I also did not receive the reminders on time as they go to my dad's address (I live with my mum) but still some of my letters go to my dad and unfortunately he's not delivered them to me in timely manner.

Any advies will be greatly appriciated.

That '30 days limit' is after a Judgment has been made. Did your 'legal representative' not make that clear?
    You need either...
    1. A new legal representative, or
    2. Follow the guidance freely given here.

Why are you not sure how to proceed?
Did my earlier post not point you in the right direction?

You are wrong.  Defend the WHOLE claim.

A court claim form is not a CCJ... as long as you defend there is no CCJ.

Hi, thank you for the advice. I have completed my defence using the template in the Newbies thread. Rightly so, I have received an email regarding Claimant's Directions Questionnaire and 'intend to proceed' from their correspondence. They have also mentioned that their client maybe prepared to settle this case and if I wish to discuss further I have 7 days to call them.

I was wondering what's your advice on this matter, if you could direct me that would be appreciated:
    - A: should I negotiate and ask for a reduction (as they have charged me twice!)
    - B: go ahead with hearing (less preferred option as can't accommodate the hassle and timing to prepare for the hearing that I might potentially lose)

Would like to hear your views on this. Many Thanks!
