Parking fine Scotland
‘You have failed to pay Direct Collection Bailiffs Ltd (DCBL) the outstanding balance of £140.00 and the balance remains outstanding.
We will now recommend to our Client to begin legal action against you, which will incur further costs and these will be added to the outstanding debt.
Please be aware that if our Client is successful, then this may also result in a County Court Judgment, which will have an adverse affect on your credit score. This may affect your ability to get credit in the future, such as credit cards, car finance or even a mortgage.’
I am in Scotland. Is this enforceable? Will they actually take legal action?
Any help greatly appreciated thanks.

The good news is they won't litigate in Scotland - no chance.
Just adapt the 'Specsavers' sarcastic reply linked in this reply to someone else in Scotland:

Thanks for your reply. I didn’t think it was enforceable in Scotland that’s why I haven’t responded.Coupon-mad said:The good news is they won't litigate in Scotland - no chance.

Oh you even safely ignore it but the response that I suggest is fun. Shuts them up! Also tell them to erase your old address - better to see the letters & stop them reverting to an alternative old address.
By the way, as part of the new (UK wide) incoming statutory regulation of this rogue industry and a new binding Code of Practice, the law is changing and you are getting 'keeper liability' next year. A copy of the POFA Schedule 4 will apply in Scotland.
Start now: reading private parking signs more carefully & tell your friends to be ready to take these a bit more seriously in future.

Many thanks for your help. I assume even with the law changing they cannot retrospectively apply this to me?Coupon-mad said:Oh you even safely ignore it but the response that I suggest is fun. Shuts them up!

To summarise what the regulars are saying:
Park where/how you want in Scotland and feel free to disrespect peoples private property for now.0 -
Translation --- At present you have a degree of sanity in Scotland. However, due to your leaders(who claim to want independence ) importing some poor legislation from England, we will soon be up to our old tricks in order to frighten money out of people who really have done no wrong. These methods include having ANPR cameras that are not properly synchronised and whose images are not properly checked by humans to avoid 'double dip' tickets. Well after all they ARE an easy way to make money.Whatever2023 said:To summarise what the regulars are saying:

Other jolly ideas include not understanding the difference between 'parking' and 'unloading' , or screaming that it is a heinous wrong if your wheel is a couple millimeters on the line and of course we are particularly fond of pretending that there is no Equality Act so that we can happily bully money out of vulnerable people who 'overstay' due to their special needs.
Scotland, you are the next cash cow !
The pen is mightier than the sword ..... and I have many pens.3
