Thanks. How about a lime based breathable anti mould paint? It's anti mold and breatheable!!! Trouble is any links to any that are easy to get and not expensive:)0

Lime wash is breathable, and also has some antibacterial/anti-mould properties, but.... Have lime plaster on some of the walls here. It does not stop mould from forming !

Gosh can't make up my mind. What would you all buy in my position, any links appreciated
In order of priority
Need paint that allows walls to breathe
Need walls to avoid mold as much as possible
Low or non toxic
Would be nice to have paint that we can wipe clean from marks from the children.
Thanks all0 -
If you want no / reduced mould, then I'd buy a paint to tackle that like Zinsser Permawhite (which you can tint)
Or, do you know what causes the mould? Lack of ventilation? Could you do something else to improve that?0 -
Thanks is Zinsser Permawhite breatheable and low VOC?0

Op I think you are asking for something that doesn’t exist. You need to decide what you want your paint for. If it’s for mould, you need to get one but it will have some chemicals in.If it’s to wipe, you’ll need to get one with chemicals in.We have F&B estate emulsion in our kitchen and it wipes really well, goes on nicely and looks good.2006 LBM £28,000+ in debt.

The Zinsser can deal with the mould (it's got a biocide in) is washable and scrubbable but isn't low VOC or breathable.
I've used it a few times and I wouldn't describe it as fumy / stinky though to paint with and it goes on well.
You're going to have to decide what your priorities are for this paint

Lime wash is not particularly wipeable. You may find it rubs off on clothing for the first few months. Same for clay paints. If you are buying ready made lime wash, be prepared for some serious wallet damage (F&B, £60). With small children around, limewash or clay paints are not suitable on walls. Stick some lining paper up, and paint with wotever. The lining paper will stop the paint sticking to the plaster so you can always undo the work should you need to.Her courage will change the world.

I still think all the talk about breathable paint is a bit of a tangent. @blackstar - do you actually want/need the painted finish to be air- and vapour-permeable? Or do you just want one that won't put fumes into the air you breathe? Breathable as used in paint means something entirely different from non-toxic, but you have used it as if it means the same thing.
