Faulty dishwasher from AO

Hi,

Looking for some advice on how to proceed.

In November 23 I bought a hisense dishwasher. I paid for AO to fit this. We moved into the property about two weeks after this and realised AO hadn't connected it properly. They came back out under a week later and fixed this.

Since using the dishwasher our dishes never came out clean even when we were rinsing them before going in. There was always a sandy residue left on. We tried every programme and changed from fairy to finish tablets but nothing changed. On opening the door one day the door also buckled at the bottom.

I then in February phoned AO to explain about the fault and the buckled door. I feel the dishwasher is poorly made. The power button you have to press hard several times before it comes on. The engineer even struggled with this.

AO put me through to Hisense who got an engineer out. He was rude and stated no fault. The dishes continued so I phoned again. An engineer came out and said he couldn't find a fault but ordered new spray arms as a precaution. These arrived and I fitted them as he instructed. However, nothing changed.

I phoned AO again who discussed with hisense and called me back. They stated I needed to change my water hardness setting as they believe we have hard water. I stay in a soft water area so changed it to match this and AO have stated to try this and if it doesn't work they can only send out another engineer. He stated if another engineer comes out and doesn't find a fault they will not replace this or give refund.

I have photo evidence of the dishes after a 3 hour wash still being dirty and left them in the machine for the last engineer to see for himself.

The dishwasher was around £400. Can I say to AO the goods do not meet expectations of use and get a refund?

  • Did you use AO credit by any chance?

Within the first 6 months it is taken there is a problem, their engineers aren’t really independent but I’d imagine their view would have some weight.

Other than someone here advising on what the problem may be, I think you’d be best off having an local appliance company out to have look.

If they say there is a fault ask for that in writing and then go back to AO to reject the dishwasher for a refund (full of done within 6 months of delivery) plus the cost of the local company’s inspection.

We didn't use credit, we bought outright but can see what you mean. The engineers both asked for instruction manual and didn't know how to use the dishwashers.
Thank you. Not sure why I didn't think of an independent company to then have some evidence. Will look into that thanks!
