Wizz Air Check In Issues

Hi All,
Going on a family holiday next week and the only flights that worked for us was Wizz Air. I desperately looked hard to find alternatives airlines after hearing a lot of bad reviews about Wizz Air but nothing worked so went with them. I heard about check in charges at the airport so paid for the auto check in option thinking these extras may help me avoid further charges at the airport. Anyway, the webiste is asking me to enter my family's travel document details. When I enter everything it just basically says "An error has occurred. Please try again. If the error persists, please contact the airline.".
There is an option to upload your passport scan - I'm not sure if this is mandatory but even that doesn't let me upload. I've tried from two different computers. I can't help but think this intentional - where I am either forced to call the hotline (at £1.50 per min) and then pay £15 for each 'transactional request', or pay £40 at the airport on the inbound and outbound flights!
Has anyone experienced this or can advise on what to do?

We had the same. On the way out 25.03.24 the check in desk overrode the system and we did not pay. We had called the number also prior.
However on the way back yesterday we were told a note had been put on the system so it would not happen on return. They refused and said it was up to Wizz to agree. Called Wizz at check in and a rude person hung up resulting in us being forced to pay 48 each to get home. There were a few other travellers with the same issue. I have looked on line and it seems there are many articles the same that suggest Wizz do this alot. We will be taking it to challenge to get a refund but it was a very stressful time.
Keep screenshot of the errors times and calls as evidence.
any help is much appreciated0 -
There is an 0330 number listed for existing bookings, I can find this on request.
It is your responsibility to contact the airline using this number. The phone number you are referencing is the phone number for new bookings.
Try from the app, it worked for me yesterday. Alternatively, if you haven't purchased seats, are you trying to check in too early?
There will be no charge to query an issue you are facing. The call will be charged at the same rate as an 01/02/03 phone number.💙💛 💔0 -
From a quick google, here's a number to tryyou can contact the airline's Existing Bookings line on 0330 977 0444 (domestic rates apply – please check with your phone provider)

That number looks familiar, so I'd say it's it.martindow said:From a quick google, here's a number to tryyou can contact the airline's Existing Bookings line on 0330 977 0444 (domestic rates apply – please check with your phone provider)💙💛 💔0 -
I paid for auto check-in both ways to Athens, departing tomorrow. Auto check-in did not work and I chose to check in myself at T-24. Auto check-in had confirmed my passport details via the payment process.A reddit post implied without any evidence that UK travellers cant use auto check-in.Perhaps because UK are not in EU? But I was able to get checked in and was issued with a boarding card this morning.I noticed that no seats had been allocated between T-50 and T-22 this morning. Perhaps its a problem with their software0

It may be necessary to visit the physical desk, but most UK passport holders are treated as EU by airlines for this purpose.💙💛 💔0 -
The point is that auto requires Wizz air to check you in. Once you have paid for the service, it is not something you can use or control. I gave up on it once I was permitted to check in without paying for a seat at T-24.CKhalvashi said:

It may be necessary to visit the physical desk, but most UK passport holders are treated as EU by airlines for this purpose.Waiting until you reach the airport desk risks being charged a fee for not being checked in. Unfair as it sounds, the airline desk has the power to prevent you flying and people have reported that they paid the charge under these circumstances.0
