What is the problem here? I opened an account yesterday and transferred £1, I was not asked to verify my bank details, but I've had the account since 1995. I transferred £99 today but I'm now concerned that transferring more is an issue.
I think you'll be fine, as it sounds like you've been electronically verified. So you won't have the same issue as the original poster.

Applied for today, no issues so far, accepted my Virgin sort code &  account number
  • The issue I’ve had (and am still having) is that my money is in there and I can’t get it back out again. Attempting to withdraw, close, change linked accounts etc all results in an error message and has done for the last 2 years. Tried phoning and they can’t help. So about to write a letter and hopefully they will close and send the funds by cheque but I’m not hopeful… They are an absolute shambles.

Apologies if you have already tried this, but can you open another account with a different issue number and different linked bank account then attempt an internal transfer between old and new accounts to withdraw the funds?

I have a couple of accounts with them at present and it won’t allow internal transfers either. Haven’t tried setting up a brand new account but suspect I’d run into the same issue with internal transfers?

Ah. Pity. May still be worth a try with a brand new account since you can open one without putting any more money in, but it was a long while ago now that this workaround worked for me when it wouldn’t let me change linked accounts for some obscure reason. These accounts are also a little unusual in that to perform an internal  transfer one can either choose to withdraw funds from an existing account into the new one or deposit money into the new one from the old one one, but from what you have said I have little doubt you will have tried it both ways by now, several times.

Not heard anything further from them yet, granted I applied on a Saturday but it's Tuesday now, thought I might have had something by now.

Guess there might be a backlog as it's a top account though

Had an email at 5.22am today saying welcome to my new account, has my User ID in it, mentions about a 6 digit security number and if I didn't set one up when I applied I'll get one in the post.

    I can't remember if I set one up though🤔
