As Eskbanker alluded to - there is a Groundhog Day feel about this sadly not uncommon failure of diplomatic relations amongst "friends" resulting in abandoned holiday plans.

There is also a reference to "all three of us", so it seems pretty obvious that what OP really meant was three in total rather than her plus three others, despite using those words....
