Very Basic Mobile Phone for 92 year old
Hello. I am looking for a VERY basic mobile phone for my 92 year old mother who lives alone. She has never had one before. She still has all her wits about her (well most of them!) but when she tried an old Samsung Smartphone of mine for a few day she found it difficult and confusing to use with all the Apps, swiping left and right, swiping up and down etc. She kept mistakenly moving apps and losing pages. She has never had the internet and does not need it and would not text or email - all she wants is something to use as a telephone when out of the house or as a backup when the landline is down as happened recently.
Does anyone have any experience of or can recommend a suitable phone, the more basic the better, please? Size of keypads or characters on screen is not particularly an issue it is more of not wanting screens clogged up with, in her case, unwanted icons and options and not wanting complicated keystrokes. Literally all she needs is to make and receive phone calls.
Thankyou for any help you can give. If you have a specific model to suggest that would be brilliant..
Thankyou.

Doro are specialists in this, find the model then find a supplier, the normal ones like supermarkets, Currys, Amazon etc have them, sometimes on offer

I do not recommend Doro as whilst the buttons are big, the UI is confusing.
Much better to get download a simple launcher for the Samsung. (IPhone has one built in via the accesibilities)0 -
Or, would a classic Nokia feature phone be ideal, if she just wants to be able to call people?

The problem with giving her a smartphone that's been adapted with a simple launcher is that it'll go flat in a day or three if she leaves it switched on whereas Doro etc will last for ages on one chargePHK said:I do not recommend Doro as whilst the buttons are big, the UI is confusing.
