onlinecarparts.co.uk using Evri for scam?

  • I’ve also had to return a part once , wrong one ordered, my fault, and support was actually pretty quick in the chat. Return + refund went through without drama.
I wouldn’t jump to “fake tracking” just yet. Autodoc is legit, it’s more that cross-border shipping with Evri = zero info for a while. Painful, but not unusual.

I foolishly ordered some expensive (£460) car parts from onlinecarparts.co.uk (actually a German company AKA AUTODOC AG) on 20 March. AUTODOC charged my card (unfortunately not a credit card) on 26 March, and soon after showed the parts as 'delivered' on their website with a tracking number I tracked down to Evri. The Evri status is 'We're expecting it'.

I queried this on web chats with AUTODOC and their rep said:
If you see a tracking number, it means that the parcel left our warehouse and it's in transit to your country for delivery. However, the delivery company will have the update of the tracking only when the order arrives to the destination country which may take a couple of days (usually 48 working hours). Follow the tracking link for updates while this occurs.

Of course, Evri are impossible to contact, and I'm concerned that is why Autodoc has used them to generate a spurious tracking number for a parcel they haven't delivered to Evri. Does anyone have experience of this, or advice?

There will be customs charges on that value. The parcel would go to customs to calculate charges  , which Evri would arrange to pay on your behalf and collect the parcel. . That would all take time.

Expect a bill from Evri for the charges plus a handling fee.
