Hi everyone,
I have a Zoostorm desktop computer running Windows  7. It has served me well. Now I have bought a reconditioned desktop computer running Windows 10 (don't think I could adapt to Windows 11 !!!).
What is the best way to transfer the data from my "old" computer to my new one please. All help greatly appreciated. P.S I am not a technical person!
Thanks

    Do you use OneDrive?
If not then if it's a case of just copying over your documents and any pictures etc, which you can just do with a Usb disc drive. Or upload them to OneDrive from the old one, then when you sign in to the new one they will sync up ( note it can take a while depending on how much data you have)
Any software etc will need reinstalling though on the new win 10 pc.

I think @Veteransaver may have meant a USB stick, you can buy them quite widely including supermarkets.

    buy a USB stick

plug it into your old computer it will show up as a disc drive eg D

copy all your data onto D and then remove the stick

plug the stick into your new computer it will then show up as before as a disc drive maybe not the same letter but let's say D as before

copy everything off the stick onto your new computer and put the stick away as a backup in case anything goes wrong in the future

If you have more than 500gb to transfer you would be better of with a external hard drive of at least 1tb
If you go for usb stick San Disk is a reasonable make.
Hard drive  Segate or Western Digital
SSD Drive Samsung or San Disk

Surprised nobody has commented about the fact that you don't have your data backed up already - what would  you do if your current PC died today?

These days you can save everything "in the cloud". I use dropbox to store all my documents and photos. Photos are also stored in at least two other places and I back up everything to an external hard drive.

I can access all the documents and photos from any device - phone, ipad, PC but no personal data is actually stored on any of the devices, so if any individual device breaks, gets lost or needs replacing then the process is easy.

Which is fine if you trust whoever is storing your personal data in "the cloud" to never have a breach/leak.
Each to their own idea of if that is a risk for them or not. There is plenty of information out there to inform your decision - if you care to look.
Personally I make my own backups/images on my own drives and not 'the cloud'. (OK, my emails are on a server at IONOS, or at Gmails servers).
'Syncing' data across your devices is easy - if you trust whoever is holding it.
But as said each to their own
