Octopus Energy auto migrated from Shell Energy apparently "known problem" in opening meter reading

I was migrated from Shell Energy with whom I never had any problem. I am not sure of the exact date they transferred me over but I left Octopus Energy myself on 27/02/24 to a new supplier. I think I was only officially an "Octopus Energy Customer" for Jan and part of Feb 2024. I got a "final bill" as expected which I paid in full and expected nothing more from them, having been with my new supplier since 27/02/24.
Today (2/4/24) I got ANOTHER "final bill" from Octopus Energy stating I had used £1177.73 of electric in 12 days! and that they'd be taking this by DD mid April 2024.
After investigating it myself and having two separate phone calls with them they told me it was a "known" fault. In my case they appear to have taken an "opening reading" that is about 4,000 units LESS than the figure they themselves have stated on my own statements/bills to date. The 2nd lady on the phone apologised, said it was a known error, promised to zero my account and send a zero bill as evidence. With no bill coming I emailed them and they want me to send a photo of my current meter reading (which I have done) plus several other pieces of "evidence" ie their own bills stating both Smart and External Energy Reading Person readings. So far I have not had formal written response to say they can see their error and are going to sort it out.
So if anyone else has been "migrated" please check they are not trying to do a similar thing with your account.

I have the same problem. Despite explaining specifically that I have been charged twice for energy totalling nearly £1000 they are insistent that I have not. 1 week left before I refer to the ombudsman.0
