I only use olive oil for salads or when I'm cooking Italian food really, so a bottle lasts me a long time.
Often I end up going for a high end bottle that can be sourced properly to ensure I get what I pay for, with the recent price increases on oil I might as well spend extra to get better quality.
I usually use rapeseed oil for anything else or mustard oil if I'm cooking Indian food (usually I cook north Indian as my partner is from that region).

Just a thought but as bottled is so expensive, could I use the oil drained from a jar of olives? (I don't eat olives though)

Only if you can find olives in olive oil. The huge majority are jarred in Water, Salt, Acidity Regulator or stabiliser

Jars of sun dried tomatoes are packed in olive oil.  I always use the oil.

I do this! In fact any oil from ‘jar deli’ things can be used. With artichokes the oil can be a bit watery but when it’s added to a pan that soon evaporates.

These days, a lot of olives and other deli products are bottled or canned with rapeseed oil, soya oil or sunflower oil. I won't cook with industrially processed oils. Soya oil can be genetically modified, too
