That's a defence and is also too long.
A witness statement is your story, written in the first person, so no use of 'The Defendant'.

Hi has anyone got this letter. I had previously emailed my directions questionnaire as advised here but I received a new letter and it appears am being asked to resend this to the new court where the case has been transferred (which is in London)?
Does this mean they lost my DQ?
0 -
Yes they have lost it and you must send the DQ to the named court. Do not send a jpeg.
While your case is quiet, please allow me to post a reminder to you this month to do the government's Public Consultation if you haven't done it yet.
Their proposals are wrong. We must stop them.
See this thread: -We need every poster to come back & complete this vital Consultation before the deadline! Just 2 weeks left but please don't rush it. You can do some then save it and come back to it as you have time.
We understand that you may need some pointers. It looks laborious, we get that.
I'm taking a closer look this week and we'll walk people through the questions, and tell you what I'm going to put and/or what sort of evidence you might wish to use for your response, if you agree with what we'll be saying from our experience.
I've covered up to question 20 already on that thread.
Whilst your answers must of course be your own, there are vital points to safeguard motorists interests to make, that many people may not think of without our guidance because we see cases every day and we know the legal background. There won't be a template - the survey is for you to reply in your words - but we'll help everyone with what to focus on.

Hi all
just a quick update. I got a letter from the court stating that the judge had looked at the case and asked claimant to pay a trial fee of £27 by March 7 2026 otherwise the case will be struck out. The hearing date is April 7 2026 (unless I presume it’s struck out)
Wondering if anyone else had got this and if it’s likely that the claimant (Gladstone) forget to pay? Also was planning to ignore this whole thing until first week of March. At which point I will find out if it’s been struck out and if not then will prepare witness statement as need to submit at least 2 weeks before hearing.0 -
This is normal ... and yes for now you can relax, as long as you have read the Order carefully and are certain of your WS deadline (don't just assume it's "no later than 14 days before" unless it says so on page 2).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hi so my hearing date is 7 April and the deadline for the claimant to pay the trial fee was 6 March. I called up contact centre today (12 March) and I understand the claimant hasn't paid. The person however did mention the hearing is still active for that date which makes me think they just haven't updated things? Hence I have now emailed the court to request the claim to be struck out (as the court papers had mentioned).
Now in a bit of a dilemma. I am very busy at this moment in my life, baby due any day and also moving house. I would prefer to avoid having to write a WS and attend the hearing if possible.
In this situation shall I just ignore or will I still need to write a WS and attend hearing despite what the court letter said in that the claim would be struck out?
