Your witness statement should back up and support, with evidence, what you wrote in your defence, along with a narrative of what happened on the day and subsequently. @Coupon-mad has put a list of items to be added to the WS in her Newbie sticky second post labelled a) to i).

So update I was 6 days away from my hearing when I got an email that 'a District Judge has considered the matter and has directed that the forthcoming hearing stated above be vacated owing to lack of Judicial resources and the matter will be relisted accordingly'

So basically the limbo continues from when I got the ticket in 2023. To be honest I had prepared and was looking forward to the hearing and defending my case. Now it just drags on…

Ok so the hearing has been relisted and is now due in 6 weeks. Unfortunately I am unable to attend due to work commitments. This letter is much more basic and it doesn't seem to give any option if you cannot attend the hearing and would like it relisted.

Has anyone been in this situation. Is it possible to rearrange or will it simply proceed and it's up to me to decide whether or not I attend. I obviously would like to attend rather than being absent as I want to defend this fully but it will be very tricky to get leave on that day.

I am so sorry but you'll lose. Attend.

@Coupon-mad oh I definitely want to attend but from your experience you cannot request for it to be rescheduled?

Yes if you are quick and ask the Claimant's solicitor to consent to a new date and this hearing to be vacated.

If both sides agree then it is fee free.

But I can't see Gladstones playing ball. Hence you must attend. The last person who failed to attend had to pay over £700 because they were held to be unreasonable.
