SP do not do the work. Either meter co they use or DNO will do the work. So someone needs to be paid. The co's that do it for free, will just be doing it as good customer service.Life in the slow lane0

And in response to which meter is being removed, "gas or electric"juleslovesmaths said:Can anyone explain why Scottish Power think it is acceptable to charge over £200 to remove a gas meter that is no longer needed due to the house moving to all electric green heating. I believe other providers offer this service for free - it seems like profiteering to me
I assume its the gas meter you're wanting to have removed, not the electric meter?zedfed said:It’s electric and I cannot afford a £1000.00 as I am a pensioner. I would not mind paying if it was a reasonable amount but this is rediculous. If I don’t pay it I have a standing charge of £200.00 a month, how can I afford that!!!
I *really* hope the all electric green heating you're moving to is not the one that advertises on day time television?
It'd be unlikely that replacing a gas heating system with all electric heaters will work out with cheaper running costs. Is that what you are expecting?0 -
I has presumed that the OP was talking about having had an ASHP installed....here's hoping that is the case!

I hope so - and that would be a good choice (assuming the house insulation is up to scratch).EssexHebridean said:I has presumed that the OP was talking about having had am ASHP installed....here's hoping that is the case!0 -

Ahh well spotted DCM - indeed it is!
It appears that zedfed has an ELECTRIC meter in an outhouse that they need removing.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Well thats embarrassing
Thanks.
Although I wish people would start their own threads rather than add to others.
If its an electric meter being removed, the OP must be going off-grid (or perhaps they have two meters and want one removed)

The latter I think @MeteredOut - there is mention of it being unused and in an outhouse.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I am not and have never been a customer . .
But I think that Utilita have no standing charges and no exit fees.
