Fixed Rate ISA dates

Options
I have been reading numerous threads but am still struggling to get my head around how ISAs work.
I've got two existing ones which are fixed to 01/04/24. I am wanting to upgrade them but also add in £20k from 23/24 tax year as yet unused. What is the best way to do this? Santander say applications have to be in by 28/03/24 but am I able to do this before 01/04/24 when my fixed term expires?

Assuming that you haven't used any of your 2023/24 allowance yet, then you can pay that into an ISA just now, regardless of what you do with the ones containing prior year money, as long as you use the receiving provider's ISA transfer process when moving the proceeds of the maturing ones.
