    No, that's fine, 2'p.
Does the red neon light work? If so, turn it on (just the pull switch, not the shower), check the red light comes on, and then flick off the circuit breaker for the 'shower' - it looks like the far-right one? Check that the shower switch light goes out. If it does, then you've confirmed the circuit breaker to use.
Turn it back on, check the light comes on, then pull the cord until the light goes off. Then turn the circuit breaker off too, until you've sorted the shower.
Are you up for doing this?

Yes for sure. Sounds obvs when you say but unless someone's used to it it's not obvious.
I'll get to it shortly as I'm just in the middle of sanding the really bad skirting and lunch.
Needs to be done while people are at work just in case I can't get the case back on.

So I've done it and retrieved the bit of plastic. It had gone down the service channel which would seem to be what would happen generally should anyone dig this up looking.
Easyish to get off. The screw underneath is a devil to get a screwdriver between wall and fingers.
Replacing seemed to be fine except the screws (especially the bottom one) popped out for a passtime so up and down the step ladder to find it. :#

I used a kitchen drain strainer  to go over the plug hole and catch any bits.

I was concerned that it didn't all screw flat together but had a gap around the edge and kept trying to get them to meet but it seems to be the norm looking at a general photo from the net.

It seems to be working fine and hot water coming through so I'm hoping that means I've got all the switches back in the right place.

Eternal gratitude for this help :)
I've also learned about the isolation switches. So double whammy!

Blimey! You don't hang about  I was expecting to be guiding you through this.

Is that yours in the pic, or the one on t'net? If the latter, could you post a pic of yours to show this 'gap'?

Edit: Looking at your own first pic, it appears that this 'gap' is normal. In fact, the way the curved bit - yellow arrow - touches the front cover, it's pretty clear it couldn't go any tighter even if it wanted to. That 'gap' must be normal, and not actually a gap at all.

Well, I've got some problem with bits of me that don't work like a leg so  been stuck at home sanding skirting for 2 days so I thought I should just get on and do it while you were around :)
And while I could phone plumber if I got in a pickle :o
It's just knowing, being sure what things do. I used the link and the instruction book C1990 which made me notice the very inconveniently placed bottom screw or that would have never been seen.

And the fancy shower head that didn't work before is working now the plumber did the proper bathroom for me and fiddled with the water so it's looking a lot smarter.
Take a break now then Easter hols things stop so I'll be tackling more jobs so more posts likely I guess.......silly stuff that I think there must be a way to but what the heck is it.

Just the one marked shower on the main board which you'd switch off, but if in doubt switch off the lot with the big red switch. The knobs all came off as part of the cover on mine - just don't move the knobs while the cover is off  or the settings will get messed up
