A 50% increase is significant but if you dont ask you dont get. If you have a quote of £300 from a company then sending that with your counter offer adds weight to the argument.
Have you spoken to Breitling yet? I see you can add a case/strap service to a standard service for an extra £145, maybe they can confirm either if this standard service is likely to be able to deal with it or quote for a bespoke service if not factoring in it'll be done at the same time as a routine service.0 -
Breitling won't quote or even comment on it without me sending it to their service centre.0

Any reason you won't?DistortedVision said:Breitling won't quote or even comment on it without me sending it to their service centre.
TBH. You are going to have to give them chance to asses it.Life in the slow lane0 -
It's not down to me. I asked the retailer if they would be happy for me to send to the Breitling Service Centre. I even said that I would pay for the £45 fee if we decided not to go ahead with the repair but they have not responded to this suggestion in any way. I do not wish to just go ahead and send it to Breitling in case the retailer says that I've accepted the watch and forfeited any compensation or the right to return it for a refund.born_again said:

I think this is a really good idea. I've asked Breitling if a polishing service on top of a maintenance service would cover it. But I'm dealing with customer service and not the service centre themselves. I should have asked them if the service centre has their own email address.DullGreyGuy said:A 50% increase is significant but if you dont ask you dont get. Save yourself the hassle, send it back and let the retailer deal with it....1

The retailer accepted my counter-offer of £300 of compensation and are sending it by bank transfer.
I'm still waiting to Breitling to come back and let me know if a polishing service on top of a maintenance service would cover the repair ((£235 + £140 = £375). Will need to make a decision whether to go ahead with it now if it does or wait until the watch needs a complete service which include polishing. Because I think a maintenance service seems like a waste of money on a new unworn watch that is 4 years old. Being just a means to an end.0
