Did your mum get the Winter Fuel Allowance and did she use that to pay an earlier bill?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
@Robin9 Unfortunately, I have as yet not been able to locate any bills prior to September 2023 . My dad , who sadly passed away in November last year was previouslypaying the gas bills . He was 86 years old .About 3 weeks ago, I have requested a 'Statement of Account ' , as has been advised by CAB but nothing has arrived as yet .When I phoned CAB 4 days ago , the advisor mentioned something about back-billing regulations ,which I am looking into . This is the main reason as to why he advised me not to pay the current bill . Also the fact that we have not as yet received the 'Statement of Account' from BG. Thank you for your help0

September last year will be a good starting point.
The WFA will have been paid into his bank account.

Yes , on 1st March 2024 the BG customer advisor confirmed over the phone that my mother was already on the Priority Services Register .He said that the then bill of approximately £1400 ( covering 22 Dec 2023 to 15 Jan 2024) seemed too high and he was taking this up with a billing specialist in order for it to be rectified. He also took my mother's email address, which I have recently set up for her . And about a week later my 80 year old mother received an email from BG threatening legal action !!!Thanks for your swift response and apologies for my late reply .0
