These card readers have two batteries, type CR2032. With the card reader flat, buttons uppermost, the first one in the drawer has its flat side upwards and the second one has its flat side downwards. Each of them has to be slid in underneath its spring contact.0

My Barclays PIN Sentry has 4 batteries located at the rear with all four flat sides (+) uppermost

Thanks for the image. I'm pretty sure one set of batteries was faulty (used a battery tester). But I think the other set I tried I put in both facing the same way, so it seems I had those wrong. I'll try again.2

as I mentioned previously you don't have to faff around with batteries just ask the bank to send you a new reader0

And as I said I don't want to do that, when I have a workable unit just needing batteries as well as a just received NatWest reader that will work. Why add to throwaway stuff. No wonder humans are destroying the planet.2

Just received 2 card readers in the post this morning from Ulster Bank, couldn't make it up .0
