Halifax to Virgin ISA Transfer timescales

Options
Apologies if covered before but couldn't find anything.

I currently have a Halifax 1 year fixed rate ISA due to mature 6/4/24. Wanting to lock in the Virgin 5.25% rate by transferring my existing pot to them and contributing further £20k 24/25 tax year.

If I open the Virgin now and initiate the transfer what is the likelihood of this going through before 6th April? If I transfer before maturity I lose 90 days interest which I obviously want to avoid.

Am I better just setting up the account now and doing the transfer on/after 6 April - is this possible or does transfer request need to be done on application?

Thanks all

Apply for the Virgin 5.25% now and it's best to initiate the transfer at the same time towards the end of the application. You can tick a box saying you want to serve the full notice period on your Halifax ISA.
