Radio Downloads just cut out

Options
I'm not great at tech!  Bought headphones which I've successfully paired up to my phone on Bluetooth. Downloaded progs off bbc sounds so i wouldn't need wifi when out walking.  All fine when I'm listening at home on wifi but stops & starts a lot once out and about.  Any idea where I'm going wrong?  Thanks

When out and about are you listening to the already downloaded music?
Or are you still listening to bbc sounds over the phones 4G/5G connection which may be losing that connection as you move about?

    Yes, podcast is downloaded
I only have 3G but it's never been a problem until recently

OK the podcast is downloaded, is that download what you are listining to?
What is it like if you listen to that same downloaded podcast when not moving about?
If it's still cutting out when you are not moving about then that says to me that it's probably just a poor quality download.
Another possibility is that you caches etc. are getting full, if it's an old 3G phone then it probably doesn't have much memory. try powering the phone off then on again which should help clear out the RAM. (The old off/on is a cliche because it often works).
PS. You do know that the 3G network is being switched off, so you are going to need to get a 4G/5G phone?
(You may still be able to make calls and texts over 2G, but won't get internet except over wifi).
If your 3G phone has recently started to become a problem for you then that may be why.

Switch your phones data and wi-fi OFF to confirm if you are really listening to the downloaded version rather than still streaming it

    Tried that already, without luck.

Newcad, I followed your link which looked extremely hopeful however when I then had a dropdown menu of the phone I had to upgrade to G4 my Samsung A20e wasn't on the list!  Looks like I'm either going to have to go into a mobile phone shop (most likely Vodaphone which Lebara uses) or only listen to podcasts when inside my house, which rather defeats the purpose of downloading.  What a pest.

There's a lot of confusion in your posts. Your phone is 4G compatible.

The most likely explanation is that you are not listening to the download but streaming the programme afresh.

Make sure you play the programme by going to My Sounds then Downloads.

If you are doing that then the next likely candidate is the Bluetooth connection being disrupted. Which Bluetooth headphones/earbuds are you using.

I have downloaded, definitely not streamed. As mentioned previously my phone isn't shown to enable me to upgrade to 4G. I'm going into town so we'll ask the specialists. thanks anyway

What people are trying to tell you is that you don't need a 4g signal or 3g in your case to listen to downloaded podcasts, they are stored on your phone

If the podcast doesn't work when you turn off 3g then you are listening to the streamed version not the downloaded one

As above, if it's fine at home but not when out n about then it's clear you aren't listening to the downloaded content.

Go through the steps to be completely sure you've got it right:

In the Sounds app click through to the programme you require, click on the Download icon and wait for it to hit 100% with the orange tick. Until the orange tick appears it hasn't completed the download at your end.

Click through to My Sounds (at the bottom) then Downloads then tap on the prog you downloaded in that list.

Press Play on that and it should start.

If it stops when you leave the house something is amiss, but if you're playing the downloaded content your data, signal strength and wi-fi connectivity shouldn't make a difference.

    Agreed,
from what you are saying then although you are downloading you are not then listening to what you have downloaded but still listening to live streaming instead.
Whether your phone is 3G or 4G is a different issue. Note that 4G is sometimes referred to as LTE
Your phone is 4G (LTE) capable so what makes you think that you only have 3G?
On your Phone go to Settings>Connecions>Mobile Networks
What does it say for Network Mode? (or if you tap it then it shows just what it can connect to, see below).
This is from my Samsung A13 and as you can see it sets itself by default to automatically connect to LTE/3G/2G, (LTE being 4G), so it connects to the best one available wherever I am.
