I wonder if any one can give me some advice.
My daughter is 14 and was desperate to get her ear pierced.
We live in a very remote rural area, the nearest town is 1 1/2 hours away.
I researched and researched and Clair's accessories was only place in this town to get ears pierced.
I have medical conditions and struggle with mobility so travelling any further is hard for me.
So reluctantly and nervously I took her there 2 weeks ago to have her ears pierced.
I spent £60 on the earrings and piercing.
She had piecing done at 4.30pm by 7.30 am the next morning the earrings had already started falling apart they are complete junk, and I felt ripped off.
I could not travel back to store, so tried ringing and phoning to try and complain but could never get through and no reply to emails.
Out of desperation I messaged them via Twitter/ X.
Got a response today and they say they will give me a refund but are asking for alot of private information via DM before they with issue refund.
They are asking for My Full Name, Full address, Bank account number and sort code.
I feel really uncomfortable about giving this amount of information to them via Twitter even if it is via a private DM.
Should I have to give them this information in order to get a refund.
They already have my full name and address, I sent them copy of receipt, and a photo of broken earrings and had to fill in forms when piecing was done with my details and address.
I paid by debit card. Surely as I paid by card they should have a record of that and can refund it back to my card.
Am I wrong to feel uncomfortable to be asked for this amount of information.
What should I do?
No judging me please for taking my daughter to Claire's accessories to get ears pierced, I know I should not have taken her there and regret it. I definitely will never go back there.
Any advice much appreciated
Thanks in advance

Surprised there are many towns without a single piercing parlour, though appreciate most get their ears dont via the "gun".
Dealing with Claire's Twitter you are going to be dealing with Head Office, I've no idea what business model Claires operate under but under many options the HO wouldn't have the payment details from an individual branch and hence needing an account to transfer the funds to. If you dont like the idea of sending it by Twitter messages how about by email? Or over the phone? Arguably email may be less secure but it all depends on risk appetite.0 -

If you want the refund I'm afraid it's 2 choices. Either go or comply with the request. DM are totally private & from the info they require they can not empty your account. If that is what you are worried about.
Many people gets ears pierced @ Claire's. Daughter had hers done years ago.Life in the slow lane1 -

Thanks, my main concern was that information getting in to wrong hands and fraud being committed. I know I'm probably overthinking it but I'm just naturally a very cautious person.
The front of earrings and stones fell off, still enough left for earrings to stay in but want to replace asap, once can remove and replace.0 -
They need proof that you are who you say you are. Anybody could contact them online and claim to be you.
To refund by bank transfer they need your bank details.
The only way not to give out your information is to go to the shop , with your debit card, and get the refund put onto your card.
The refund should be made by the same method as the payment , unless both parties agree to another method.
However, if you are dealing with a head office online. I would confirm with them that the shop will refund as the shop may not know anything about the agreement.

You can either go to the store with your card to get the refund, or prove who you are online to get a refund remotely.
What are they refunding? Just the cost of the earrings?
I would then go online and buy some titanium medical grade studs and make sure they don't have butterfly backs. Check the diameter of the bar and match it to the current ones. If you haven't already got some, buy some saline spray to use twice a day when you change them.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)1 -

Personally though I got mine done with 24k gold studs (and a gun) 30 ish years ago at an independent jewellers.. I can wear most earrings without issue, but ones specifically marked as "hypoallergenic" tend to make my piercings react.0
