Why do you think installation will be expensive. When I have had blown panels replaced it has been a fairly quick job.
Purely from the size of the unit which is approximately 4 square meters
The size of the unit is unlikely to make any difference to the labour cost of replacing it.  They will pop out the four retaining beads, take the old unit out, pop the new one in and replace the beads.  It's the same process for a small window as it is for a large one.  I had eight blown panels replaced last year and it as long to measure them and get the right style, etc. than it did to replace them.

The size of the unit will make a difference. I can change a small window myself. 4 sq mtrs - might need a couple of helpers.

I bet it failed because the packers were fitted wrongly. That's going to be a heavy window and would require a load of support.
Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.

That's a fair point, although whenever my glazier has attended there are always two of them in the van, no matter how small the job.
