also worth keeping an eye on Facebook marketplace for free fence panels or other suitable materials. I replaced a missing panel with a piece of old bed frame (metal) that looked a bit like a prison cell but then the ivy climbed up and now it's disappeared. Or, mesh can be fixed in a multitude of ways.

Repair the existing panels and replace them. Several easy ways to do it and cheaper than any unsightly temporary fix.

Aside from the useless at DIY bit, (one panel is beyond repair) I’m not sure I can just be going into next door’s garden and helping myself to their fence panels in an attempt to do a bodge job?

Sometimes the panels just get a bit warped/shrink, and then do not fit so snugly in the concrete posts. So when there is a big gust of wind they fall out. Sometimes the concrete posts are also not aligned exactly as they should be.
Often it is possible to slide the panels back in if they are not seriously damaged( from the top, so you may well need some help) and then where they seem a bit loose fitting, you can wedge them in with a bit of wood and maybe a cable tie around the top.
It is a bodge job but probably will look better than using chicken wire.
If one is badly damaged then you can buy a new one. Cheap ones are about £35 each, so you could probably get a couple delivered for a £100.

6x6 panel from Wickes is £32 each. Buy one (or even two), and get them delivered for £7. Add a couple of bags of compost to get the total over £85, and get free delivery.

Slotting 6x6 panels in to concrete posts is no easy task, so you'd need a couple of beefcakes on hand to do the heavy lifting. Or do an ugly bodge job on the cheap, and shame the landlord in to doing something about it.

Her courage will change the world.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

Just been down and there’s now four panels out. Three of which are in bits.  I think you might be right about the fence posts not being quite aligned. I’m 5 foot two and eight stone, I’m not going be shifting anything anywhere.
i’m certainly not going be paying for new ones for them without being sure they’re going to stay in.
