You think that Dover have a list of cars with no MOT and tax?
There are police ANPR cameras at all major ports.

Of course not. In the event you are asked about it you are on the way to the pre-booked test, there is no issue here.
I am pretty sure that the exemption for having a pre-booked test does not cover driving internationally.
Would they care about other countries though I was under the impression they can only enforce UK law.
Exactly, you have entered the country and you are on the way to a pre booked test.
How do the ANPR cameras work do they alert police of missing mot and tax or would they send a fine at home.
From the TV shows, police ANPR will alert them if they pass someone, else gantry camera might ping an alert around. With VED I know the DVLA goes around clamping them, I doubt it's just random vehicles going around on the off chance, more likely something pinged them in the area and they trace the car to the RK
    Thanks,

I would then have a pre booked Mot so even on that case I should be OK ?
Yes, but be prepared to provide evidence of the pre-booking.

You are allowed to drive untaxed and without MOT to a pre-booked MOT only.
Once the MOT is passed, you can get the tax straight away and good to carry on the journey.

There may be a practical limit to this.  I don't think you have said which port you will arrive at or where you live.
Example 1:  Arrive at Dover and drive to a pre-booked MOT in Northumberland, that might be chancing it.
Example 2:  Arrive at Felixstowe and drive to pre-booked MOT in Felixstowe, probably OK.

Will a text message from Garage be enough also my Garage has said they are happy to take a phone call if need be.

Then I'd say that is probably more towards the "chancing it" end of the two examples I gave.
Why can't you pre-book the MOT at a garage in Folkestone?
You sounded certain that the car will pass.  If you don't know any garages in Folkestone, use one of the national chains.

It was more because I will have my autistic child with me and would have preferred to get to my garage right next to me, I am 100% sure the car will pass and could look into someone in Folkestone.

I think you are taking the proverbial by driving 1 hour 40mins to a testing station and if stopped I suspect it would be frowned upon. Chances of getting stopped are slim though

With a reasonable police officer you should be fine. I've got an autistic child too and it'd be significantly easier to drive them home before dealing with the MOT especially if you can drop the car at the MOT station and walk home.  If you take it to one in Folkestone then you're going to be waiting around for a while unless you can be seen immediately.

The most legal thing to do would be to get it an MOT at a chain place near the port. But I'd do what you're planning, with evidence of the MOT booking, an inspection before entering the UK to show you believe the car is safe, and evidence of the autism.

The only other way I might try and do it, if it's a long journey to the port, is to get a hotel for the day you arrive and get the car dealt with, or leave the car at an MOT place and see if someone can give you a lift home / you can hire for the return trip home. All will suck in different ways with an autistic child though.
