Babboe/Raleigh Ecargo Bike Recall
Thescrumper
I purchased a Releigh Ecargo Pro in 2021, these are rebadged Babboe bikes that are now under investigation by the Dutch Authorities as they are deemed to be possibly dangerous. I have been advised not to use the bike but it is my business delivery vehicle and used daily, Raleigh havent offered my a replacement as yet and I await further news from them. I have noted that my bike frame number is the same as a previous recall by Babboe in 2019 which sounds rather dubious, Can anyone advise on my rights ,

Who advised you not to use it?
I recall a similar thread a while ago, but can't remember the outcome if there was one. Have you any idea what the fault is?
When it comes to your rights, it's almost certainly those in your contract because this isn't a consumer purchase, it's a business-to-business one. That would mean that your rights are determined by your supplier contract with Raleigh. Have you got access to a legal helpline through your business insurance?0 -

So announced 10 days ago with "whilst a comprehensive review is undertaken" clearly that is not going to be a quick resolution.Life in the slow lane0 -
Both Babboe & Raleigh advise not to use on ther website, i actually purchased the bike with a personal interest free loan fom my local raleigh dealer as self employed and this worked out the best option financially, still 6 months left to pay. The bikes frame could bend or break so very dangerous in traffic if that happensThescrumper said:

Did/ do you claim the bike or its maintenance as a business expense?Thescrumper said:

It doesn’t matter how the bike was paid for. It was purchased for business use and so consumer rights won’t apply.1

That may not make any difference, you purchased it for business use. It may not be a problem, but when it comes to enforcing any rights, you may find you don't have consumer rights laws to fall back on if it came to it. For example, if this ended up in small claims court.Thescrumper said:

Best option is to work with the dealer you bought it from, and see what they're prepared to do.1 -

Babboe is preparing to launch a recall where owners of these bikes will be given a replacement or another suitable alternative. Customers will also be given compensation for the inconvenience.
From the link.
Seems they are going to sort it & compensate. As ever will take a bit of time.
As a business do you not have any cover in case of issues, where your transport is not working?Life in the slow lane1 -
