    (1) A gesture of goodwill most likely.
    (2) A cheque can be paid into any bank account.

Hello everyone, sorry to bring up this thread again but I could do with some more help.  Unfortunately Barclays have messed up again.

I received my cheque from Barclays and it was for £30.  I rang them up to query this as they said they would be sending me £50 as compensation.  They apologised and told me they would sort it and send the rest so I cashed the cheque for £30 in my new bank account.  Today in the post another cheque arrived from Barclays but it was for £50 and not £20.  (It should have been for £20 to make a total of £50).

I rang up Barclays and spoke to a member if staff who told me someone would call me back as he wasn't sure what was going on.  About an hour later someone called me back and told me i could deposit the cheque for £50.  I deposited this cheque for £50. An hour or so later someone else from barclays rang me to tell me they would be sending me a cheque for £20 and I could destroy the cheque for £50 or return it to their store.  I told the man that they had already rang me and told me to deposit the cheque for £50 as that's what I was told to do, he told me okay and told me someone would call back but the line cut off.

I was really scared I had done something wrong and Barclays were going to accuse me of stealing their £20 so my dad drove me around to find a Barclays and I went in with him and spoke to a manager and explained the situation and offered to give him £20 in cash and he looked at my account and told me that barclays had added notes to.my account, but he was going to sort it and I didn't need to do anything further. he had added notes to it and I didn't need to do anything further.

Do i need to do anything else? How am i going to return Barclays their £20 I'm worried sbout them accusing me of fraud. The bank manager told.me he would sort it and it didn't matter but I'm worried about them turning up at my door or sending debt collectors

Do you think this is the end of the situation or will Barclays contact me for their £20, this situation is really stressful.  Shall I ring up my new bank and explain the situation to them? Hopefully they may have a way to pay Barclays the £20. I'm happy to write them or a cheque or I could send them a bank transfer or pay tyem £20 in cash and get a receipt and send this to them.

Sorry if this is a silly question but situations like thia stress me out a lot
  • Please do not stress about it. When you spoke with the Barclays manager you were told that you didn’t need to do anything further so just leave it at that. Good luck

Don`t think Barclays will miss 20 quid somehow lol.

Try not to overthink things and carry on as normal, look on it as a bonus.
