Bathroom fan - can I get a refund?

From OPEdd12 said:I see there are some pretty hostile people on here it seems.
I am the customer, I supplied the fan and the fitter had his sparky fit it (while fitting the rest of the bathroom) and decoration was done after the fitting.
I am messing with the ducting because I needed to pop the chrome grate of at the end of the ducting that sits in the ceiling out of the ceiling so I could paint the ceiling behind the chrome grate hence the touching of the ducting.
Just to be clear, I am not trying to push anything on to the sparky here.
I initially asked for a replacement but they said they had no spare parts or anything.
As the sparky fitted the whole lot. it I don't really want to mess around with it myself by replacing the ducting myself even if I got.
After a bit of back and forth they've come back with asking about quotes to get the ducting replaced but then again I need to go out and then get quotes from multiple people and it seems a bit of a faff.
I contacted them asking asking for a replacement (with a picture of the hole in the ducting) as I thought that it was not satisfactory quality and last a reasonable amount of time. They said they couldn't give me one as they had none and told me to go to B&Q and buy some ducting and replace it myself. I then asked for a refund under CRA and they gave me a response saying stuff about their warranty and terms of service doesn't cover it and it's my fault as I caused the damage.
Well if that is not pushing it onto the sparky, I don't know what is.
Especially given you purchased the items.
This is one where had the sparky purchased & fitted, then you might/would have a claim against them. Sadly as you purchased the goods & then removed & damaged the duct. It has nothing to do with them
If the truth & regulations are perceived as being hostile. So be it 🤷♀️Life in the slow lane6 -
I think there might have been a misunderstanding - when I say them I do not mean the sparky. I probably should have phrased it better. I mean the company that I got the fan from in the first place are the ones I am trying to sort something out with. I can see why people might have been rubbed up the wrong way if they inferred I was talking about the sparky.1

You get bonus points from me for the correct use of "inferred". It's a rare thing nowadays. I think you should get a refund just for that 😁Edd12 said:I think there might have been a misunderstanding - when I say them I do not mean the sparky. I probably should have phrased it better. Are you talking about white flexible 100mm ducting like this one on Amazon for a fiver?Edd12 said:to pop the ducting out of the ceiling in the roof while doing this for some reason the ducting itself split. It didn't seem to be made from any decent material. If so then some battles just aren't worth fighting!
