In Maidstone had Autozone.Ltd South East used vehicles company.
In 2020 we had purchased BMW X6 2012 from them, we didn't get log book till police confiscated this vehicle, because in 2017 has been stolen in Metropolitan. We had applied to the court and after Autozone.Ltd started proceedings liquidation action. After liquidation in 2024 February 29 finally report that is not enough to back unsecured creditors. So £12,999.00 lost completely, No apology, no compensation from this company. Is anyone one know how I can get compensation ?

I would say you have reached the end of the road, can’t see how you could continue. You should never had purchased it without a V5C document being available.2

How did you pay ? Assuming cash then you're unlikely to as an individual
Do you have legal cover on any insurance policy that can give advice ?

If a company has no assets then you are flogging a dead horse trying to get money from them.
Did you really expect an apology from a company that sells stolen cars?1 -
Did you get an HPI check done before you bought the car?
Most people would, especially when thinking about an 8 year old BMW.
Since it was reported stolen 3 years before you bought it, it would be registered on the Police National Computer and you should have been warned. The good news is that if HPI hadn't warned you, and this does happen from time to time, you can claim your £13,000 loss from their guarantee which pays up to £30,000.0 -

What checks did you do prior to purchase? Did you carry out HPI or similar?
You purchased the car in 2020. When did the Police seize the car?0 -

You would only ever see the V5C if you bought directly from the current keeper as a private sale.
When a dealer takes a car as part-ex he registers the vehicle as TRADE via his trade portal to the DVLA then destroys the old V5C to comply with GDPR regs which do not allow new owner to see previous owner's name and address.
The dealer must register the new keeper at DVLA and tax the vehicle in new keeper's name before allowing the new owner to drive away. The new V5C should arrive by post in a couple of days time.0 -
The police informed that this car cloned by professional team. They never saw can ne all documents right and insurance company all good with them, just indemnification number it wrong in the a car. only shows double tax road paying twice in year on Gov.uk website, that police find on the system0

- 2020 = purchased car. Part paid by credit card.
- April 2021 = car seized by Police
- OP commenced legal action against the Dealer to recover funds
- February 2024 = Ltd Co wound up
(It seems highly unfair on the CC if that is the case, but if the rules allow...)
