Advise on situation involving CC and housing.

Options
Hello all. I was advised to drop this post over here from the housing section. As said it may be better suited.

I’m hoping to get a bit of advice for a situation I’m in. Without going into to much detail my partner and I have split up and I need to find a new place to live.

The problem is private rental pricing is crazy and even the cost of a room is so over the odds. Due to credit cards that I’m working on paying off I will really struggle to pay what people are asking for. I say struggle to pay, but I mean I can pay the rent and everything but struggle to live after paying all the household bills plus my other repayments. (Which I know is my fault)

I wondered if anyone knew of any options that may be around to help with renting? Or someone in my situation.

I don’t have anywhere else to go so have to find a property.

I have a feeling that I likely won’t be able to get any type of help or housing Association because of what I do earn.

Any advice is truly welcomed. And if any more details are needed I can share.

Thanks.

Very long shot, but I know someone who does house sitting as a way of having somewhere to live nearly free. But they go all over the country ( and abroad) so not a good option if working as well!
  • Unfortunatly we need much more information before we can offer you the best way forward.

Basically you need to concentrate on vital payments, rent, council tax, utilities, food, transport before you even think about paying unsecured debts.

If you fill in a SOA and format for MSE and post on here that will help.
If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.

Just my two-cents worth.  You say that you are unable to pay rent because you are servicing your debts.  I think you have your priorities the wrong way round.  Housing is your first priority and the debts are second.  If you need to stop paying the debts to be able to afford housing that that is what you need to do.  No point in having your loans and credit cards up to date if you are living on the street.

As advised, you need to post up an SoA so that the guys and girls here can offer proper support.

Essential debts, rent etc, come first, non essential credit debts come last.

If the money won`t stretch, the non essential debts don`t get paid, its really is that simple.

Courts won`t let you pay what is not affordable, you need to change your priorities here.

Get your housing situation stable, then look at the debt, maybe a DRO would help?

If looking at a DRO then bear in mind that fees for these will cease to be payable from the beginning of the new financial year.

Hi thanks for the comments so far.

I what I said may have come out the wrong way. I understand that rent and household bills come first. And would always be the case.

At this time while I’m still where I am I’m of course paying everything I need to.

My thing was I don’t want to fall behind on those CC payments during the transition and have anything effect my credit rating.

So I do priorities the household then cc and what’s left to work with. Just in this case what left to work with don’t look it will be anything.

    Also what is a DRO?

Not understanding this, I thought you rented?

A car worth 17k firmly removes a DRO as an option though.
