This ev charging thing might need to dig up the road and potentially next door garden so they can unloop supply but that could take weeks and we just hired a guy for a driveway to be done
Plus our car is ready pretty much to be picked up but will cost more to run if it takes weeks to get this sorted j just want to cry
They didn't tell all of this when we orders car only though research after the charging point company asking us questions for survey but now heard nothing.

I did money transfer today to get funds for a driveway we probably can't get yet.

I'm just so stressed with the all of this.

I am worried the neighbors will hate us and also if will take months to sort out which means will cost more than we thought in terms of charging it up.

We are on the motability scheme and we didn't anticipate this. It's getting me all worried and stressed..

I would not worry about the neighbour, looped supplies are crap and if I were them I would want the damn thing un-looped. At some point it is almost certainly going to be need to be done so bite the bullet now.

Are you at the end of the loop or the first house in the loop? If you are at the end of the loop it is your driveway that will need to be dug up, if in the middle your neighbour’s. If you are having block paving installed then that will be easy to reinstate to how it was before the work started,

It should be possible to have the charger fitted ahead of the work. All of them can be throttled back to 16amp, and most are capable of load sensing which automatically throttles them back when the house load reaches a certain level.

How was the car dealership meant to know your house shared a supply cable with next door?

In the short term, a "granny lead" may be a lot cheaper than using public chargers.  Provided you can get the lead at a sensible price.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

And sometimes shared with more than just 1 other house.

Reason 26 to avoid an EV

The Local Distribution Network Operator (DNO) will know which addresses have looped supply; they are duty bound to replace with a dedicated service line. The only challenge is getting them  to do  the work. There are many properties in the uk with looped supply, wasn't a problem when you had coal heating and 1 socket per room. In those days gas lighting meant something else.
A few years back the process was application for EV charger is sent to DNO by authorised developer - Think they are listed on the ENA portal .DNO responds with a certain number of days.

More like a reason to bring the electricity supply to your house into the latter half of the 20th century, let alone the 21st.

Talk to your neighbours, preferably armed with a bottle of wine or a nice tin of biscuits.

I have an EV and I'm not bothering with a home charger. Just buy a suitable certified EV lead (mine cost under £200) and plug it into a three pin socket. Specialist EV three pin sockets are available if wanted. OK, charging will take longer, but you'll be saved a lot of expense and hassle.

On the contrary, in many situations a smart EVSE is a requirement for access to the cheapest EV tariffs. Unlooping should be free. Getting a proper charge point would likely save money in the medium term.
