Hi All,
After some advice.
I have booked a holiday to Rome through Expeda.co.uk and the hotel has just cancelled my booking however my flights are still booked.
I am thinking about cancelling my flights because it was a package deal and therefiore cheaper, but Expedia are telling me to contact the airline directly and I'm fairly sure they wll say no as they are marked as non-refundable.
What are my rights, any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
David

did you definitely book a package
if you booked a package the hotel would have told Expedia they had cancelled rather than you directly.
if you booked a package , the sea re Expedia terms if they make a significant changeIf Expedia Travel must make a significant change to your Package, we will tell you as soon as reasonably possible. You may then:- accept the change;
- reject the change, cancel your Package and receive a full refund without paying any termination fees; or
- reject the change, cancel your Package without paying any termination fees and take an alternative one if Expedia Travel decides to offer this.
If you didn’t book a package then try and find different accommodation and use the flights, and get a refund from the hotel0 -
If it's booked as a package then Expedia are obliged to find you an alternative hotel.
Your rights are shown within the Package Travel Regulations:

If it was independent purchases then you have no protections and cancellation of the flight will depend on the level of flexibility of ticket you paid for. If it's non-refundable then all you can do is ask for the taxes back and they may be subject to an administration fee which could wipe them out.
Any reason why not to book a different hotel and keep the flights?0 -
OP hasn't replied yet, but does seem odd as if it was a package, they would have done things differently.
Are you sure this is a package?
Normally, booking a hotel and a flight on Expedia AREN'T packages. They are just individual flights and hotels, that aren't a package.
If it is a package, then Expedia have to find you a hotel.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

One of the factors denoting a package is "offered, sold or charged at an inclusive or total price", and the wording of an ATOL certificate issued with the booking should also clarify....0
