Vinted refusal to compensate

Hi ordered something from Vinted. 
The item was “delivered” by Yodel… it was dumped at my door when I was out, they didn’t even use my doorbell to see if I was in so I could tell them to leave it in a safe place. When I returned home, the item wasn’t there. Their photo “proof” shows it was abandoned at my door.
Vinted have refused to compensate me for the item not received because “Yodel confirmed delivery”. 

I can’t make a bank claim because I used my Vinted balance (never do this!) 
What can I do?

Letter before action to Vinted, and then small claims court if needed.  What's the value of the item?  It may not be worth the trouble going that far.

How do you know if you weren't in ?

If you have a Ring doorbell (or similar) then the footage will help prove your case

Why are you claiming from Vinted?

They are like Ebay, as such are not the seller of the goods.

Even if you had used a card for payment it could/would be rejected on the basis there is proof of delivery.

Not sure what part of this you don’t understand. I would have been able to answer the doorbell and tell them where to leave it!

A photo of a parcel outside a house is not suitable proof of delivery

I’ve only lost about £20. But £20 is £20. It’s the principal. Yodel’s poor delivery behaviour and Vinted’s lack of willingness to support has left me out of pocket. We pay “Buyer Protection” on every order… what are we protected from?!

As far as Visa/Mastercard go it is.
They do not have to prove it was handed to someone or even delivered to the correct address. Just delivered.

Not sure what part of this you don’t understand. I would have been able to answer the doorbell and tell them where to leave it! 

I wasn’t sure how you were certain that they hadn’t rung the doorbell since you haven’t mentioned anything about having a Ring “type” one.
I assume I was correct, since you were out and otherwise wouldn’t have known what they did (or didn’t do)
In which case my comment about using the footage (or lack of) is still valid

Principles (principal is something different) can be expensive things to chase.  

A small claims court fee will be £35, so I’d send the letter before action and if they don’t sort it out, take them to court and if you win, you’ll get your £20 and the court fee.  I don’t know what the waiting list is like at the moment, at one point it was something like nine months.

On Vinted the seller doesn’t arrange postage, Vinted does, this does rather complicate claims as Vinted supply the label and therefore have the contract with the contract.
