Or consider a holiday that doesn't involve flying. Loads of interesting/hot foreign holidays you can do quite easily by car/ferry/train

Have you considered taking a fear of flying course?

    Easyjet do one https://www.fearlessflyer.easyjet.com/

It's not free, but if you are scared, this is a great way to gain confidence if you really want to take a flight but are scared.

The roughest flight I've ever been on was attended by a graduate of one of those programs - we were encouraged to applaud them...

Frankly if they dealt with that flight, they're good for everything air travel might throw at them!

    No one likes turbulence though.

I actually quite enjoy the sensation of being tossed around by the elements, in the knowledge of course that there's no danger, even on rare occasions when the order is issued from the cockpit, "Crew be seated". A bit inconvenient when you were about to head for the loo, though...
Likewise, it's not too dissimilar to rollercoasters or "drop" theme park rides.
Probably why I don't like turbulence or rollercoasters lol

By the time you arrive at the airport you have completed the most dangerous part of the journey if that is any comfort.
A playlist on your device and a eyemask might help.
  • It might help to play with a fight simulator and get a feel for how aircraft work.

Or maybe learn to trust the pilots and relax with a drink/book/music while the professionals are flying the plane. Sometimes overthinking about how aircraft work can make you more nervous.

The truth is that of all the things you do on your holiday the flight is probably the safest part.

The point of trying it yourself is to give you a chance to study how careful and well regulated pilots are. There are procedures for everything.

It also gives you an understanding of how aircraft move. Between the two you can easily understand what is happening and take comfort in that.
