You secured the interview - congratulations - now onwards and upwards for that job
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!4 -

Thank you all again for your good wishes, it does mean a lot to know a gang of MSE chums are cheering you on 😊😊😊🥰
So, the week ticks on, and it's been a fairly busy one. Been in the office, then a couple of days of meetings in a different city entirely (3 hour round trip drive, on two consecutive days). Then tea with our neighbours on Thursday night - they have a new dog, very cute.
Friday we drove to collect Mr C's ebay drum kit, then had a bimble in various parts of Leeds (including a trip to the tiled cafe). Then to a small place the other side of Bradford to stay with some friends. I'd not seen their new house - they bought a double garage and have been doing up and adding to it as money and planning permission allow, and it is taking shape beautifully 🥰 such a lovely view, and a lovely, lovely garden. We went out for an incredibly nice curry too, and stayed up late talking 😊
Then more wandering about on Saturday, and then Mr C played in a pub on Saturday night. It's probably enough to say we arrived early and watched a small fight outside the pub, the bar had to be closed while the offending party was removed (again, and again, and again). The pub was playing commercial radio through the sound system, and the small 'wives & girlfriends' contingent made up most of the audience. Still, that's rock n roll for you 😂
Home late, but the clock changed has helped!
This week will be a full one...
Today - job prep, and prep for the week ahead
Monday - working at home
Tues - office
Wed - home
Thurs - office
Fri - interview! 😱
Sat - Mr C has another pub appearance
Sun - band rehearsal for me
I need a schedule for job planning, so it doesn't get left to the last minute
Today - background reading on the organisation (annual report, strategies etc), plus things written by the (five) people on the interview panel. Also check they're not asking for a presentation - I didn't see any mention anywhere, but double checking is helpful! And get the job description out to start identifying potential interview questions.
Monday evening - drafting answers with examples to potential questions
Tuesday - I've booked a session with a friend who's a career mentoring type person - she's going to help me go through potential interview questions and identify appropriate examples etc from what I've done. Hopefully that will help me identify a concrete set of examples that I can start practicing and recording myself speaking
Wednesday night - more practice of example answers
Thursday night - final round of practicing. Make sure room is fully tidy, sort outfit, wash hair etc.
Friday - interview first thing, then we are going out for a cuppa. Mr C may have a band practice in the afternoon, so I will try to distract myself pottering around the house, maybe a spot of gardening, washing, crochet, batch cooking etc while making sure my phone is fully charged and trying not to spend too much time anxiously waiting for a call 😬
Back in a tic with a plan for today.10 -
Right. A plan for today, because I don't want the entire day to drift!
BEFORE 10.30 - GET UP!
⭐ up and dressed
⭐ breakfast
⭐ washing on
10.30-12.30 INTERVIEW PREP
⭐ Read recent annual reports & strategies
⭐ Read at least one thing written by each member of the panel
12.30-1.30 LUNCH
⭐ Lunch, possibly with leftovers for tomorrow
⭐ peg washing out
1.30-3 INTERVIEW PREP
⭐ Read outside commentary about the organisation more widely
⭐ Identify potential interview questions from the job description
3-5 OUT?
⭐ Mr C may want to nip out for a late afternoon coffee
⭐ pick up some yogurt & fruit if we do go out
⭐ bring washing in
5-7 TEA
⭐ make tea, and also a couple of pasta bake-type things in the oven for meals this week - I don't want to be cooking in the evenings.
7-9 POTTERING
⭐ nice bath and wash hair?
⭐ re-do nail varnish
⭐ flute practice
9 ONWARDS - WINDING DOWN
⭐ start re-doing the edge of my blanket
⭐ bed at a decent hour!
That'll do - I don't want to be in front of the computer all day, but I DO want to get a decent chunk done.
Right, getting out of bed would be a good start!9 -
Wow cheery - I'm amazed at your Sunday list! & that it included getting dressed - I usually wait until early afternoon for that part, most of my weekend chores involve being inside so I let that particular task wait until I 'feel' the urge to do it! 🤣🤣🤣4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage!
