Delay paying £165 EV car tax for a year legally

This is known ... when you retax without the V11 code then you lose the current month's tax value; i.e. you pay twice for the current month. The whole point of this thread is that EVs currently pay £0 per year (rising to £195 in April) so doing this "trick" gives you a further 11 months of £0 VED, and a payment of £195 next year which will likely still give a small saving as the VED rate is almost certain to rise again in April 2026.Bigphil1474 said:Think the confusion is that if you pay £0 a year, you will technically be paying £0 twice for some of the same period. Replace £0 with £16 for example, if it's not free for the year, and it will cost some people some money.

It is absolutely certain to rise again, VED is linked to RPI inflation, so unless inflation is zero, or negative it will increase.(I suspect that in the fantastically unlikely event of negative inflation that it won't come down though)I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Not only EVs, I've just re-taxed my old diesel Ford Focus today (3 months early) to delay to the price increase until 01 March 2026.Jenni_D said:
