I did this retax malarkey in March 2024 ... I received my V11 code by email this morning, and my EV is now retaxed for £0 from 01-Mar-25 for 12 months.
@facade you should have waited until next month, as you've missed out on a month's worth of £0 VED by doing it this month.Jenni x1 -

@facade you should have waited until next month, as you've missed out on a month's worth of £0 VED by doing it this month.I know, but I want the tax to expire in January, so I can pay it in January, before all the big bills come in February & March.Putting the money aside in January wouldn't work, based on past history.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Just wondering if DVLA has already taken steps to thwart this..
Does this suggest they may issue a tax charge from 01 July anyway ???

No, it just means that if you purchase tax again, you will be charged again- you pay twice for the current month as you are paying 12 months tax including the current month. It is not like a subscription where you can extend it by purchasing another year that starts at the end of the current subscription. You may or may not be refunded for any unused months of the current tax (if your tax was chargeable).I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Just renewed my EV's VED to extend the £0 rate for a few more months. Worked fine.1

Thank you, you've saved me 7 months tax.0

I have just followed this procedure and successfully taxed my EV from 1st March. Like others I didn't interpret the instructions as saying 'ONLY proceed if you have been told to by DVLA'.

Think the confusion is that if you pay £0 a year, you will technically be paying £0 twice for some of the same period. Replace £0 with £16 for example, if it's not free for the year, and it will cost some people some money.0
