My property deed states that I am responsible for the maintenance of the fence on the north west and north east.
I am not sure what this means? The previous owner had stated that he takes responsibility for the right and rear fence.

Standing at the rear of the property, what compass points are the right and rear fence?
What fences are at the NW and NE compass points?0 -
Do the deeds actually state that you are responsible for the fences themselves, or for the boundaries generally? The former would be relatively unusual.0

If you're asking which are the north west and north east fences - take a look at the title plan. They are usually oriented with north at the top of the page.
Or if it's an older title plan, it may not have north at the top - but it should have a compass arrow pointing north...

Please quote the exact wording if you want meaningful advice.

Note : - The 'T' marks mentioned affect the North-Western and North-Eastern boundaries of the land in this title0 -
I think along with the info from the previous owner, my assumption would be you're responsible for the right and rear fences. Is anyone arguing otherwise?5

NW and NE are at right angles, so I would guess that if you can determine that the right fence is NW, then NE must be the rear fence. Not sure why they couldn't be bothered to draw in the letter "T" to avoid any doubt.0 -
