Online Shopify Retailer presumably scam

Hi guys,
I think I’ve been a bit silly!
I ordered a Garden Storage Box from a company called Shedworld on Shopify back in September last year for £169.95.
i got a confirmation email, but then nothing for a week or two so contacted them. They called me and said they’d stocked-out, but were expecting them in. Was offered a different style or refund, but said I was happy to wait.
Called them a few weeks later and they were very apologetic, and again offered a refund, but said they occasionally had stock with damaged packaging, and if I didn’t mind this they could get me one of those. I explained I didn’t mind as long as the Storage Box wasn’t damaged.
Again, heard no more so emailed a couple of weeks ago to ask for a refund.
Again nothing, so called today. An automated service answered as before, and said along the lines of ‘apologies, we’ll get to your call ASAP’ and played music. I waited about 15 minutes, and whilst waiting started searching them online. The Trustpilot reviews are now terrible, and their Shopify shop has now gone. Reviews say they’ve done this several times under several company names, so I guess I’ve been had.

I’m very disappointed with myself as I’ve never had anything like this in my 48 years, and am generally the one giving everyone else advice on safe online practice!
Has anyone had any experience of anything like this? Do I have any hope of seeing any of my money back?
Unfortunately I just paid out of my bank account and not my Barclaycard, so have no comeback there.
Thanks for reading, any advice gratefully received!

If debit card & you have something from them to bring it back within 120 days saying they are still waiting for stock. Get onto your bank for a chargeback.
Bank transfer, sadly thats gone unless you go down the small claims route.Life in the slow lane1 -
Thank you for your reply. I really don’t remember, but checking my my statement it says ‘online transaction from a/c… via mobile xfer’, so I’m guessing it was bank transfer 👎🏻
Really not sure it’s worth the hassle of small claims, it’s not really an amount I can afford to lose, but I can’t see it coming to much. Thanks again for your help 😊0
