NS&I website login problems with telephone code

I have the double whammy of my landline now plugged in via my router to fibre and an iPhone. My hashtag is not recognised by either. My iPhone is not using Internet calling and therefore I shall be trying to change from the banner setting, as suggested tomorrow.
iI will surprise no one when I relate that the agent this afternoon said they were aware of the landline issue and were working on it. I believe the first post of this thread was about two years ago so they must be working very slowly and/or ineffectively indeed! Like other contributors, I’m seriously considering withdrawing every penny from my own and my power of attorney accounts and suspect many other members have already done so.
I believe it is possible to be sent text messages for two factor authentication rather than receiving a telephone call requiring a hashtag press. So far nobody at NS&I has been able to tell me how to make such an option available as I was certainly not presented with such this morning.
They need to find out who developed passport renewal and car number plate transfer systems, which work remarkably well and ask them to intervene with the current login requirements for NS&I.
The silver lining this particular cloud appears to have is that matters are even worse if you forget your government gateway username and password and do not have your name on the required utility paperwork required for a reset!!

Yes, changing from banner setting to full screen incoming calls section of settings works.

For anyone having problems actually receiving the 2FA codes via TEXT to log in, make sure that the time and date on the mobile phone AND pc/laptop are the same, as even just 30 seconds difference can affect it.
This tip worked for me the other week. I also went into the personal information in my account and deleted most of the duplicate 'trusted devices' entries - thanks to @masonic who mentioned there is a maximum limit on these, in a previous post.
