New Style ESA and Holiday Pay

Hi
I’ve been off work ill for a while now and my SSP came to an end yesterday. I haven’t put in a claim for New Style ESA yet as I didn’t realise I could apply before SSP ended.
I’m still employed by my company and have been in a fortunate position to receive a percentage of my salary each month via an insurance my employers have, this has also now come to an end.
my employers phoned me today to ask whether I wanted to have the years holiday pay that they owe me paid at the end of March in my pay seeing as my insurance has come to an end.
Will this affect my claim for New Style ESA ? I won’t be applying for in Universal Credit. The Holiday pay will be approximately 28 days.

I’m not really sure where I stand, I have been working for my Employer for over 25 years and the benefit system is all very confusing to me.
i believe they will be going through the process of finishing me soon as this was indicated in a recent phone call. They said I would receive a letters soon from HR to discuss my future. If anybody has any idea what rights I have regarding that as well would be helpful.
many thanks and sorry for the long post.

The start date of claim will be once the SSP runs out.
If the holiday pay relates to entitlement before start date of ESA claim, then it would not affect claim. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.2 -

they said it was for this years holiday pay, so that would be entitlement from April 23 to end March 24 and would be paying it in my March pay which will be the end of March, so I guess it would partly relate to a few days in March ?
I haven’t received my holiday pay for the year before either for that matter.I haven’t put my claim in for New Style ESA yet. Should I delay in claiming ? Can it be claimed from a later date ? or does it have to be from the 4th ? as my SSP ended on the 3rd
many thanks0 -

The New Style ESA that you can claim now is not income related. So it doesn't matter for NS-ESA what income you get from elsewhere (or what savings you have). What can matter is if you are actually working, - but you aren't so you have no problem there and the accrued (holiday) pay doesn't count. It sounds as if your (ex?) employer is clued up about things so hopefully in your contact with HR they will also know what they are doing. (Many don't and I myself had some problems with my ex employer when I had to stop work because of health).By contrast UC is income related, so anything that you get paid is taken into account But from what you say you have not claimed UC yet, and it can't be affected by income from before you claim.0
