The so called balance is pie in the sky, not valid unless the judge decides a figure, in court, if there is to be any balance at all
The alternative is to make a drop hands offer of £0.00 , each side walks away bearing their own costs
As mentioned above, PE would be pursuing this in-house if they thought it had legs, not handing it over to the chancers1 -

Just ignore. No discussion with them. No offer of £0. They are simply shaking the gullible tree to see if any ripe fruit drops off for their grubby coffers. They have been known to try and settle for as little as £25 to try and feed their greedy little habit.
