Smile Direct Club

I purchased my SMD aligners in late Oct and received them in Dec (randomly on the day that they announced they were going into administration). I paid in full on my credit card and put in a disputed payment claim to claw the money back from my bank. SDC have just sent an email contesting my disputed payment saying that it is invalid as I received the merchandise and the full treatment was delivered on that day. It doesn't mention anything about me losing out on the various things I would have got with the lifetime guarantee. I wondered if someone could help me with my response to them? I think its pretty poor that they are disputing it to be honest

Have a search for a couple of other threads on here, with lots of good advice.

What has your card company said about the dispute?  I can see why the chargeback might fail - you have received something.

Wait till your card co contact you on this.

While you could win the chargeback & get the funds back that way, the company (SDC?) could still chase you via legal means.

  • Thanks, SDC is Smile Direct Club and they have challenged my dispute through the bank and not directly to me. As far as they are concerned I placed an order and they fulfilled it. My argument is that there was a lot more to the agreement than just the aligners that if knew I wasn't going to get I would never have gone with them in the first place. I need to know what to go back to my bank with

    Thanks.
You need the evidence of the extra's that will not be provided.
The issue surrounding this, is that they are not a quantifiable amount. Visa/Mastercard are looking for actual amounts you have paid & the value of the part not provided.
So example you have a invoice stating
    x is £
    y is ££
    z is £££
& you are not going to be getting z so looking for a refund of £££
