    Welcome to the forum.
You don't have to pay anything.  The energy company has to pay if the ombudsman takes it on.
Remember that the ombudsman does not investigate, they look at the info you and the energy company have provided and then decide.
Keep it short and simple: bullet points in chronological order are helpful.  Make clear what has gone wrong and what the energy company needs to do to put it right.
Remember that you must first make a formal complaint to the energy company.  You can go to the ombudsman upon receipt of a deadlock letter or after eight weeks if they don't send one.

Can't find anything definite on the ombudsman site but various affiliated organisations state the fees as £170 for a complaint then £340 / £400 if it goes for a full determination.

The Energy Ombudsman charges a case fee that a supplier pays for each case brought against them. The Energy Ombudsman currently charges £170 per case for an early resolution and £340 per case for a case requiring a full decision.

    Sorry about the late reply
Im in battle with Octopus regarding an issue
    24 Emails and still counting
9 seperate contacts, 2 being upper Managers
Twitter /X interactions x 4 at least they are aware now
3 citizens advisers who also got fobbed off
And a call off another manager today @ 2-15
Looks like going to litigation after my journey with Octopus and on with the Ombudsman who is just another stumbling block in the whole process in my opinion
