I’ve just noticed virgin money offer this service and their own funds. There are 2 fee’s 0.3% and 0.45%, on £1000, that’s £7.50 which isn’t bad over 12 months, at least a lot lower then expected.

I seen the Vanguard fund names on the Trading 212 website when it was showing what was available to buy in to.

I didn’t realise life strategy was the name of a vanguard fund, looking on the website and have a quick look through, life strategy 60.

would it be best to buy through Vanguard themselves?
No, investment platforms exist for exactly this sort of thing, rather than people going directly to fund managers, who typically have minimum purchase amounts in five or six figures.  Vanguard do have their own platform as a separate entity though, Vanguard Investor.

If I pay in direct from my wage, can I count as a pension investment and save me some tax? If I could make a one off payment from my next wage.
No, you'd need to use an actual pension (e.g. a SIPP) rather than an ISA if you want to benefit from pension tax relief when buying.

https://monevator.com/compare-uk-cheapest-online-brokers/ offers a comparison of platform fees, many of which are cheaper than that.
