Have the above but need to ask why the light which you push to the work shower remains on all the time and if so is it ok and does still pull electricity even when not in in use

It’s on all the time because you are not turning off at the isolation switch. It stays on to tell you it has mains power and to warn you not to do something stupid like take the cover off while it has power going to it.

The light is an LED and draws less than 0.5W, but you should still turn it off at the isolation switch while not in use for safety reasons.

Usually you would have a ceiling switch operated by a pull cord, otherwise the switch would have to be outside your bathroom.

Shower switch will be a heavy duty switch - Like Pedalling said often a pull cord. I've seen push switches (similar to a cooker switch) in the airing cupboard for showers too. It will always be a big heavy switch (double pole) because of the ampage/cable size - so expect something substantial not a light switch.

An electric shower will use quite a lot of power while being used but zero when not (and the neon light is irrelevant). You need to look elsewhere for the high power consumption. How is your water heated for example?

The only other possible explanation I can think of is that there is an issue with the wiring in that you're also supplying and paying for the electricity for another flat or maybe the communal areas.

You mean a large electricity bill?

The isolation switch is for servicing and really shouldn't be constantly be turned on/off as that can cause it to fail , the led draws so little power you won't notice it

Do you have a smart meter? Unfortunately everybody's bill is large at the moment , if you tell us how much and how large your house is, how many people live there we can judge wether the bill is right or not

381 units is low for a February bill.  You could reduce the cost a bit further if you use the shower during the off-peak rate instead of the day rate
